Richard
‘The Boss’
Richard has had a passion for bonsai for many years and this passion has grown bigger and bigger. In 2004 he opened Bonsai2u (formally Lutterworth Plant & Bonsai Nursery) behind the catholic church in Lutterworth. Originally bonsai was only a small section of the nursery, but his long-term goal was to turn his hobby and passion into a full-time career.

Liam
‘The Muscle’
Liam is a local Lutterworth lad whose parents live on the same street as the nursery. He used to visit the nursery as a teenager to help (or hinder) Richard at the weekends. Many people would have spoken to Liam on the phone since he started full time work here in 2019 as part of the admin team. His knowledge on Bonsai has grown over the years with the help of Richard and the rest of the team at Bonsai2u.

Ruth
‘The Counsellor’
Ruth joined the nursery originally as part time staff. Being Richards sister there really wasn’t much choice in the matter. During the winter not only is she busy packing up our online orders but she’s also the one making all our handmade holly wreaths here on site at the nursery. During the summer months she also makes our hanging baskets for local customers and corporate clients.

Charlotte
‘The Creative One’
Charlotte left collage at the age of 19 after completing a floristry course. She joined the nursery part time, helping us with our online orders and our plant sales whilst also working part time in a florist. Now after 3 years, Charlotte has her own section in our shop selling her handmade floral arrangements, dried flower wreathes and plant able cards and postcards. During the winter Charlotte also makes her decorated holly wreathes to sell here at the nursery.

Thomas
‘The Green Fingered One’
Thomas joined the team after leaving college. He works here part time alongside running his own gardening business for local residents. Many people would have seen Thomas here at the weekends helping to keep the nursery tidy and the bonsai trees in perfect shape.

Ralph
‘The Retired One’
Being Richard’s dad, Ralph really couldn’t get away without being involved in the nursery. His previous career as a bank manager meant he was the perfect candidate to be our bookkeeper. For many years Ralph took charge of out accounts, our deliveries and our on-site shop.

Acer & Elmer
‘The Pest Control’
These two cats we brought onto the nursery in a hope they help keep the pests at bay however, they are far too tame. The spend most of their time approaching customers in search of a fuss.

Bella
‘The Cute One’
Bella was brought to the nursery in early 2024 as Richard’s sidekick. Many people would have seen her when entering the site as she likes to stand tall at the gate and wait for some fuss. Bella is a lively young fox red Labrador retriever who is full of energy.
